Spring Challenge 2016 Day 21- Shiitake Tea

Shiitake Tea- by Christina pirello

Shiitake Tea

Dark circles under the eyes seem to be the plague of humanity, with concealer sales in the billions. In truth, this is a sign that your kidneys need a boost. Dark circles mean that they are becoming constricted and dry (you probably have lower back pain, too…), the result of too little liquid, too much salt too much stress, too much strenuous activity. When the kidneys are in this state, we don’t even sleep well. This simple tea is designed to regulate kidney moisture, softening them so they can do their job efficiently. For the best results, drink this 2-3 times a week for about a month. Your body will feel stronger, yet relaxed, as you rest better. And your circles? A dim memory.

Makes 1 Serving

Ingredient List:
  • 1 dried shiitake mushroom
  • 1 cup spring or filtered water
  • splash organic soy sauce
Step By Step Instructions:

Soak shiitake mushroom in water until tender, about 20 minutes. Finely mince and place, with the soaking water, in a sauce pan. Bring to boil, uncovered. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Add soy sauce and simmer 2-3 minutes more. Drink liquid and eat mushrooms, while hot.

COOK’S TIP: This tea can also be quite effective in relaxing overall tension or tightness in various muscles of the body, particularly in the legs.
